Meet Runner Runner on Pollstar

Previously reported on Myspace.com/RunnerRunnerMusic

The lovely folks at Pollstar recently had some very nice things to say about us. I quote… “Southern California band Runner Runner just might be perched on the brink of stardom as it prepares to release its first single to radio, appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live and embark on a tour beginning this weekend. Read all about it after the jump, and someday you’ll be able to say, I was listening to them when they were just starting out.” We are beyond appreciative and honored to have Pollstar’s support we encourage everyone to check out the full story below.

We also have a special request from our record label, it would be so awesome if you could do it!

When their big summer tour kicks off on July 17, the members of Runner Runner are going to don their reporter hats and shoot some exclusive interviews for Pollstar, the world’s biggest concert magazine.  The band will conduct on-camera interviews with some of the people who work at the venues they’ll be performing at, so if you ever wondered just how someone gets their name onto a VIP list at the box office, or what’s the strangest item a security guard ever found in someone’s purse, now’s your chance.  Log onto Pollstar’s MySpace page – ( http://www.myspace.com/pollstar ) go to “Add Comments” and post the question you’d like Runner Runner to answer.

No Laundry, No Worries another Ryan blog post

No Laundry, No Worries

Hello all!

Again writing you from a moving object, this time from our EMI reps rented suv. I’m in the back seat with luggage and acoustic guitars shoved into me and I love every second. Being a sardine for the right cause always makes sense! You get to thinking about all the times you dream about doing something like this and there is just no room to complain about anything, ever.

We are currently headed to a radio station in Greenville South Carolina.  The South is so beautiful. We were in Atlanta this morning at a another radio station. Actually the station this morning had a friend we had made last year, a guy named Derrick who is a DJ at the station and has been championing the band for the last year. Thanks for believing bro! He’s a good guy and we’re glad we could get back and perform for the people at his station.

I hope our performance this morning was good. We normally do 2 to 4 songs, this morning we did 3. Look at that! Right in the middle of 2 and 4! Pretty good at math, huh? We played Hey Alli, Papercuts and of course So Obvious! Always a lot of fun and makes for a great morning.

Unfortunately I did not get to do my laundry at the hotel yesterday on our day off because they didn’t have laundry machines, maybe tonight in Charlotte they will have some. If not, it might not be too good! They did however have a fitness room and I was able to get a decent workout in. I need to do that more often. It always feels good when I’m done. Our drummer James works out way more than me and he’s a beast. Just trying to stay in good physical health.

So back to today… almost to Greenville… gonna play one or two songs for the good people there and then go out to dinner with our EMI rep Chris and I think some other people.  We’ve been with Chris for the last week, he’s awesome! Meeting a new one today, Joe. This might be boring to you all but these guys deserve so many props for how hard they work. We just play music and that is never hard work. I hope Joe is ready for our own brand of lunacy! Maybe Joe has a washer/dryer handy!

Ryan’s New Blog Post “From 30,000 Feet Above”

Previously reported on Myspace.com/RunnerRunnerMusic

We think personal connections are important. To many bands take their fans for granted and look at them as a whole rather than the people they are. So in an effort to let you into our our personal lives we thought it would be fun to start member blogs. Hopefully if you get to know us as individuals more, we’ll get to know you more! We are gonna put togethor a fancy home for these blogs but for now we are posting them on all our sites. So Runner Runner proudly presents to you the first of those blogs, a up close look at Ryan and his inner thoughts from the road…..

From 30,000 Feet Above

Hello everyone!

My name is Ryan Ogren, I sing and play guitar in the band Runner Runner. I’ve been thinking about blogging for a while now actually. Blogging, that’s a funny word. Kinda like logging but with a B, or jogging with a J. Ok let me shut up on that one.

Anyway, my life is kind of crazy and I thought it would be somewhat interesting for you guys to get a little bit more of an in depth view into my life, especially right now since things are getting pretty intense for my “career”. I’m not sure why I put career in quotes, but it seemed like the thing to do. I don’t think of it as a career, I think of it as my passion, my oxygen, the reason I smile. I think of it as a dream, but I guess it’s really my career as well.

It seems only fitting that my first blog come to you from 30,000 feet in the air. I’m currently on a flight from West Palm Beach, Florida to Atlanta, Georgia. I actually have a day off today, which is the first day off I’ve had in some time, but man it is so amazing to actually be busy doing this.

I’m excited for this day off because I’m getting fairly low on clean clothes and I need to find a place to do laundry now THAT is exciting news, huh? The hotels that we’ve been staying in have been really nice, which is a nice change because I have stayed in sooooo may crappy hotel rooms over the past few years. It’s nice to stay in some good spots. To be honest, I’d sleep in a dumpster to be able to play music for people, but I’d rather not. Let me bring you up to speed.

I am with 2 of my band mates right now, flying at 30, 000 feet! Technology is pretty amazing that there is wifi on planes. A few years ago, you couldn’t even imagine having that.. So here I am in a plane with Nick and Peter. Pretty much my best friends. James and Jon, my other best friends, have driven our van back to California to prep for our next tour which starts July 17th in Utah. We are so excited about the tour. We’re touring with 2 amazing bands, Secondhand Serenade and The White Tie Affair. Really great guys and really great bands, so we’re lucky to be going out with them.

Myself, Nick, and Peter are basically traveling around the east coast for the next couple of weeks going to different radio stations and performing acoustic songs for them off of our upcoming album. It’s so cool to able to do that. I still can’t believe “So Obvious” has been played on the radio! That is so incredible, but so hard to wrap my head around. A song we recorded is on the radio, it just blows my mind and I am grateful beyond believe.

We’re basically going around to these stations and meeting the people who work there.. Meeting program directors, music directors, on air talent, sales people and interns. It’s so rad that they take the time to even meet with us, let alone take the time to hear us play something. They’re all really nice people which makes it even better.

We are being taken around by representatives of EMI/Capitol Records. There are different reps for each section of the country and its been great getting to know these people while they cart us around to different stations and whatnot. They’re working really hard and we appreciate it. I hope we’re easy to get along with! I think we are! Hey the free food ain’t so bad either!

We really had no idea many people work so hard behind the scenes to help a band get started. There are so many people in some many departments, it’s hard to keep track of them all but we owe every one of them forever. It’s like a little army.

We started this process in mid May up in Seattle and are now in Florida so we’ve been hitting a lot of the country! We are playing at a station in Atlanta tomorrow and then we head up the coast from there. I wanted to update our fans and readers in general on what things are like from my perspective. I’m not always going to talk strictly about music…..I have a lot of things on my mind ranging from comedy, sports, life, the weather, the summer, the news, and obviously, music!

I’d like to do this everyday, but I’m not sure if I will get the chance but look out for these at least a couple times a week.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope this is the start of something great!

Ryan
